An email from the LA SPCA has been forwarded to me. In it, the LA SPCA claims that my dogs were dead at the time of the rescue. I want to believe that the LA SPCA is being truthful, but it is hard for me to do so. After the rescue we were immediately told that TWO dogs were found dead: a collie and a shepherd. There was no mention of two dead pit bulls. This is the FIRST time anyone has mentioned that there were FOUR dead dogs.

It's hard for me to believe that two extremely healthy 2 1/2-year-old pit bulls could not survive without food and water for three or four days. A sickly 14-year-old boxer mix survived. A 9-month-old bulldog puppy survived. Many much smaller dogs survived. All the cats, including a kitten, survived. But my strong, young dogs did not? It is possible, I know, but it is also very hard to believe. Time will heal my wounds, no doubt, but I will always wonder about my dogs' deaths. For those who have followed Griffin and Zoe's story, I ask you to just remember them as the wonderful, loving dogs that they were and keep their memory in your heart. This will be my final post, unless events warrant otherwise.

Somebody obviously made the decision to leave the dogs behind, perhaps even based on their breed - thinking that maybe the didn't know the temperment of the dogs or some other ridiculous reasons they obviously thought were valid.

But now they are determined to deny this and no one will accept responsibilty for the actions - this is both unacceptable and cetrtainly indicative of a cover-up. I think any one donating their money to help rescue animals in the hurricane damaged areas (or anywhere for that matter) should certainly very carefully consider where their money is going - and I would suggest they avoid the SPCA until such time as the truth is admitted.

This story makes me angry and very sad. How could someone choose to leave those two animals behind, and only those two? It's so pointless and cruel and I know your hearts must be broken. You are all in my thoughts.

I do not believe that the SPCA was obligated to rescue my dogs during the hurricane, but I do believe that they are now obligated to tell the truth now. Perhaps they were dead at the time of the rescue, but I doubt it. It just makes no sense.

I do not wish to attack the SPCA. I will work to find answers, however. Hopefully, this way I will get the truth.

I wish you luck in searching for the truth. I am very sorry for your loss. I can only imagine what you are going through. I am sure that you are devastated by this. I know you believed that everything would turn out fine. I am hoping with every bad story there are 10 other stories with happy endings. Good luck to you and our prayers are with you in this difficult time.

Ellie,Bailey and Mecie from Dogster and Catser,
Scott Ellie is part Pittbull and I have delt with the predjudices that came with being a pittbull. The truth of the matter my Ellie is the sweetest dog ever. My chihuahua and cat beats her up regulary. But that is not why I'm posting. I sent a very Harsh E=mail to the ASPCA on be half of Griffin and Zoe, I told them I'm stoping my monthly finanical suport. They responded with the only reason They were left behind they were dead already. They also said that when that Vet offered to board those pets during the Hurricane that he was responsible for rescuing them and he should have made sure he got them out! No one accepting responsiblity!

Well here is my story about my dealing with the ASPCA during Katrina. Myself and other dogsters had been E-mailing and calling them since day 7 of the hurricane asking them to rescue A pickenese and Kitten. Not until I sent a message stating I gave allot of money for them to save these animals during Katrina and I have a monthy donation that automatically goes to them and I will stop it if the do not respond.
That was Friday of the third week.
Finally that monday I started to receive phone calls. Thursday I get a call from a rescuer out in the field asking why didn't you report this before today. She said if I would have reported it one day sooner she could have saved these these two particular animals. She was out in that area the day before. I got mad and told her that We had been reporting it since the 7th day which was the first day we found out about our two members in need. She told me the ASPCA sat on the message and didn't pass it along to her until Thursday. Now it was to late because Rita was coming and that area where the animals were, was going to flood again. National Guard turned them away when they went in to try and save them. So now they couldn't save them. So we wait until this flood passes to try again. I'm sick about it all! It was a small Pickenese and a 8mo kittin. I don't think they will survie. Not unless someone got to them and never told us.
I don't know what to say except my heart aches for you scott and for all the animal victims who deserved better. My God be with all your families during your time of need!
